BEIJING – According to data from China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) released on October 12, production and sales of new energy vehicles were 302,000 and 289,000 units from January to September this year, up by 93 and 100.6 percent respectively over the same period of last year.
Production and sales of new energy vehicles in September were 43,000 and 44,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 25.7 and 43.8 percent. Output and sales of new energy passenger vehicles in the month were 30,000 and 31,000 units, increasing by 26.7 and 48.7 percent compared with a year ago. New energy commercial vehicles achieved 23.2 and 33.1 percent growth in production and sales to 13,000 units each in September.
In the first nine months of the year, production and sales of battery electric vehicles were 229,000 and 216,000 units respectively, up 118.1 and 128.4 percent on a yearly basis. Production and sales of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles were both 73,000 units in the period, a yearly increase of 41.7 and 47.2 percent respectively.
