Shaanxi Auto to sell 120,000 HD trucks in 2014

XI’AN, Shaanxi – Shaanxi Automobile Co., Ltd. plans to sell 120,000 heavy-duty trucks in 2014, according to information from the company’s 2014 business conference held on December 18, 2013, reported

Shaanxi Auto sold 87,141 heavy-duty trucks through November 2013, up 18.4 percent on a yearly basis.

Senior executives of Shaanxi Auto predict heavy-duty truck sales of 720,000 to 800,000 units in the whole industry in 2014 in consideration of the implementation of the State IV emissions standards, and the company has set a sales target of 120,000 units for the same year.

According to Zhou Yinchao, president of Shaanxi Auto Sales Co., the company has adjusted its product structure with 35 percent products being trailers, 51 percent self-dumpers, 14 percent loaders and special-purpose vehicles. The new M3000 product has been launched in nine cities with sales breaking 4,500 units. Regions such as Beijing, Tianjin, Urumchi, Lanzhou, Xi’an, Shanghai, Nanjing and Nanchang saw large sales increases in 2013, said Zhou.

“We predict heavy-duty truck sales of 720,000 units of the whole industry if the State IV emissions standards can be implemented at the beginning of the year 2014 and a total demand of 800,000 units if implemented in the second half,” said Zhou.

The LNG trucks of Shaanxi Auto kept a steady growth with estimated sales of 11,000 units in 2013, and for 2014 sales target is set at 16,000 units.

According to Shi Bing, supervisor of key client department of Shaanxi Auto Sales Co., the whole industry sold 24,515 natural gas trucks through November, with 40.24 percent Shaanxi Auto products.

Market shares of Shaanxi Auto’s 6×4 and 4×2 trailers as well as 8×4 self-dumpers are over 40 percent with certain room for increase in 2014.

Natural gas truck demand in China is estimated as 40,000 units in 2014 with large increases seen in the Southwest, Northwest and Southern China regions. Shaanxi Auto will take 2014 as a starting point and endeavor to reach sales revenues of ¥100 billion ($16.05 billion) in 2017, said Zhou.
