BEIJING – Shanghai-GM will recall 32,001 Buick Encore vehicles in China over problems with safety belts, according to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ).

The recall will begin on September 30, and the vehicles to be recalled were manufactured between April 25, 2012 and April 16, 2013.

Safety belts in the front seats may not function properly in a head-on crash due to problems with the safety belt pretensioners, according to the administration.

The Shanghai-GM will replace the faulty parts free of charge to eliminate the risks.
