Cairo – Shanghai Maple Automobile Co., Ltd., subsidiary of Geely Holding Group, launched three cars in Cairo, Egypt on February 25, 2009, according to news reports by Shanghai Maple and Geely. About 500 Egyptian Dealers attended the launching ceremony.
The three models are Primea (Hysoul), Romeo (Haiyue) and Escala (Marindo), which are targeted at different consumer groups in the Egyptian market. Shanghai Maple has made some modifications to these models to meet local requirements.
IDI Group and Abou Ghali Group are Geely’s major dealers in Egypt. Moustafa Abu Ghali, president of Abou Ghali Goup, expressed their confidence in Chinese brands and they have already received a number of orders. Abou Ghali Group reportedly plans to build sales and service networks in Cairo, Alexandria and some major southern cities.
