Shanghai — Shanghai Maple Automobile Co., Ltd. will export 2,000 cars to Libia in July, according to Dai Shihui, deputy manager of the company’s Overseas Business Department.
Dai told CBU/CAR that this would be the largest single batch of export of an independent car brand in China.
Shanghai Maple signed a contract with a Libian dealer in May to export 10,000 units of its cars in the next year.
Of the 2,000 units to be shipped on July 8, 1,000 will be the 1.3L Marindo 205, 650 will be the 1.5L Marindo 303 and 350 the 1.8L Marindo 305.
Shanghai Maple exported 1,200 units of cars in the past two years through its parent company, Geely Holding.
Starting from 2006, the company handles its own export business.
