Shi Hong appointed new marketing executive of Shanghai-GM

SHANGHAI – Shanghai-GM appointed Shi Hong as executive vice director of the company’s marketing and sales department, responsible for the promotion of three brands, Cadillac, Buick and Chevrolet, according to a report in National Business Daily, citing an insider of Shanghai-GM.

Bao Ye takes over Shi Hong’s previous post as the new marketing director for Shanghai-GM Buick Division, reporting to Cai Bin, vice president of the company.

Shi joined Shanghai-GM in 1996, and was officially appointed as marketing director for the company’s Buick Division in 2007.

Shanghai-GM sold 133,048 vehicles in August, up 5.48 percent year-on-year and 6.8 percent month-on-month, according to statistics from auto.suho.com. Cumulative sales of the JV reached nearly 1.1 million units in the first eight months of the year, ranking third after FAW-Volkswagen and Shanghai-Volkswagen.

Buick sales were 70,082 units in August and were over 580,000 units in the first eight months, according to the company information. From January to July, Buick sales in China were 516,400 units, accounting for 54.73 percent in Shanghai-GM’s total sale.
