BEIJING – Southeast Motor on September 19 launched its new A-class sedan V5 nationwide, available in seven versions priced from ¥69,800-￥93,800 ($11,098-$19,914).
Based on the platform of Southeast V3 Lingyue, the new sedan has a larger dimension of 4,570×1,770×1,450 mm (LxWxH), with a wheelbase of 2,610 mm.
In the powertrain, the V5 sedan will adopt a 1.5L Mitsubishi 4A91 all-aluminum engine with a maximum power of 88 kW, available for mating with a 5-speed automatic or CVT transmission, while its coming model also will adopt a 1.5L turbocharged engine with a 6-speed manual/automatic VT2 CVT transmission.
Major competitors for the V5 include Shanghai-GM Excelle, FAW-Volkswagen Jetta, Geely EC7 and BYD L3.
Sales of the V3 Lingyue sedan reached 43,615 units in the first eight months of this year, the latest data showed.
Southeast Motor president Zuo Zi’an expects that sales of the V5 Lingzhi can surpass 20,000 units this year.
