XI’AN, Shaanxi – Xi’an King Long bus manufacturing base broke ground on August 28 in Xi’an Economic and Technological Development Zone (XETDZ).
Shaanxi Automobile Group Co., Ltd. and King Long Motor Group will co-invest ¥1.5 billion ($230.77 million) in the 830,000 square meter base.
Construction would be conducted in two phases. When the first-phase project goes into operation, 10,000 units of buses can be made annually and production value would exceed ¥4 billion. When the base goes into full operation, the number would be 30,000 and ¥ 10 billion respectively.
Since starting operations in July 2015, Xi’an King Long has achieved sound market performance. Its sales from this January to July were nearly three times that of the same period of last year.
When it enters full operation, the base will help mobilize Shaanxi Auto’s accessory business in addition to heav-duty trucks. The base will also boost relevant industries like bus accessory, logistics and auto finance and bring a complete bus industry chain to Shaanxi, according to Shaanxi Auto president Yuan Hongming.
Xi’an King Long also delivered 43 units of its school buses to the district government of Yanliang on the same day.
