Ankai to export 500 buses to Burma

HEFEI, Anhui – Anhui Ankai Automobile Co., Ltd. (Ankai) signed a business and purchase agreement valued at about ¥200 million ($29.04 million) with Yangon Bus Public Co., Ltd. on April 11, according to a company announcement.

Based on the agreement, Ankai will deliver 500 units of Ankai brand public buses to Burma which will be operated in the city of Rangoon.

Ankai started to implement its internationalized strategy in 2010 to facilitate its expansion to the overseas market. In 2011, Ankai exported 3,000 units of school buses to Saudi Arabia, which was the biggest overseas order at that time. Then in 2012, 20 units of Ankai double-deck roadster buses were exported to the UK and were used in London Olympic Games. Two years later, Ankai exported 1,100 units of buses to Algeria. In 2015, Ankai double-deck roadster buses were successfully delivered to the United States and Dubai. Ankai also delivered 51 units of its high-end buses to Saudi Arabia in 2016.

Ankai now still holds the record for exporting the largest amount of school buses to Saudi Arabia, and it is one of the bus makers which occupy large market shares in the country.

Ankai’s overseas market now has expended to over 50 countries and regions including the United States, Britain, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore and Saudi Arabia.
