BEIJING – China’s automobile sales in November increased 0.65 percent from the same period of the previous year to 2.96 million units, according to data released by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) on December 11.
Passenger vehicle sales reached 2,589,500 units, down 0.03 percent, while commercial vehicle sales reached 368,100 units, up 5.64 percent.
The top 10 automakers by sales in November were SAIC, Dongfeng, FAW, Chang’an, BAIC, GAC, Geely, Great Wall, Brilliance and Chery. Combined sales of these 10 companies reached about 2.63 million units, accounting for 88.85 percent of total automobile sales.
Passenger car sales decreased 4.78 percent to 1,222,200 units compared with the previous year. The top 10 passenger car makers by sales in November were FAW-VW, SAIC-GM, SAIC-VW, Dongfeng-Nissan, Beijing-Hyundai, Geely, Chang’an-Ford, FAW-Toyota, GAC-Honda and Dongfeng-Yueda-Kia. Combined sales of these 10 companies reached about 871,400 units, accounting for 71.30 percent of total passenger car sales. The Volkswagen Lavida ranked first on the list of sales of the top 10 car models in November by selling 52,100 units in the month, followed by the Nissan Sylphy (41,600 units) and the Buick Excelle (38,000 units).
As the only passenger vehicle segment with positive growth, sales of SUVs slowed with a year-on-year growth rate of 8.89 percent to 1,109,200 units. The top 10 SUV makers by sales in November were Great Wall, Geely, Chang’an, SAIC-GM-Wuling, Dongfeng-Nissan, SAIC-VW, Dongfeng-Honda, Dongfeng, SAIC PC and GAC Motor. Combined sales of these 10 companies reached 595,600 units, accounting for 53.69 percent of total SUV sales. The Haval H6 kept first place on the list of sales of the top 10 SUV models in November.
MPV sales were down 8.04 percent to 216,800 units. The top 10 MPV makers by sales in November were SAIC-GM-Wuling, SAIC-GM, Chang’an, Dongfeng, BAIC Yinxiang, BYD, Dongfeng-Honda, BAIC Motor, Jinbei Auto and JAC, with combined sales of 192,100 units, which took up 88.61 percent of total MPV sales.
Microvan sales reached 41,300 units, down 21.01 percent.
In the commercial vehicle market, bus sales reached 54,600 units, up 5.64 percent, while truck sales reached 313,600 units, up 5.64 percent. The top 10 commercial vehicle makers by sales in November were Dongfeng, Beiqi-Foton, JMC, CNHTC, FAW, JAC, SAIC-GM-Wuling, SXQC, Chongqing Lifan and Great Wall, with combined sales of 255,600 units, which took up 69.44 percent of total commercial vehicle sales.
New energy vehicle sales reached 119,000 units, up 83 percent. New energy passenger vehicle sales reached 83,000 units, up 81.2 percent, while new energy commercial vehicle sales reached 36,000 units, up 87.3 percent.
