HAIKOU, Hainan— FAW Haima Automobile Co., Ltd. (FAW Haima) signed agreement on February 17 with IKCO Group, the largest automobile company in Middle East and the second largest enterprise in Iran with annual output and sales of 1 million units of vehicles, for the purchase of 10,000 units of Haima S7 valued at $150 million (￥1.03 billion), according to media report.
This is Chinese home brand SUV’s largest single export order after the signing of 20,000 units of shared-cars by the end of last year.
Haima Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (Haima Motor) signed CKD agreement with IKCO Group in early 2013. Haima medium-sized SUV model S7 began to be sold in Iran in September 2015 with total sales volume reaching 7,000 units so far.
“Iran is FAW Haima’s most significant overseas market. Total SUV sales in the country can reach 100,000 units per year and it is expected that FAW Haima will take up the first place in Iran’s SUV market, ” said Li Weisheng, vice president of FAW Haima.
FAW Haima will continue to cooperate with IKCO Group this year on Haima S5 which is planned to put into operation in 2017 in Iran; meanwhile, the two parties will also conduct in-depth collaboration on new energy vehicles, according to Sun Zhongchun, president of Haima Motor.
Up to now, FAW Haima has exported its products to more than 10 countries in Europe, the US and African.
Haima Motor also aims to achieve year-on-year sales increase of 30 percent this year, according to Li.
