BEIJING – Beiqi-Foton Motor Co. (Foton), Anhui Ankai Automobile Co., Ltd. (Ankai) and Nanjing Golden Dragon Bus Co., Ltd. (Nanjing Golden Dragon) would be granted financial subsidies for their battery electric buses, according to a notice by Beijing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology on March 21.
Beijing municipal government plans to subsidize 4,066 units of NEVs from 10 automakers with a total subsidy of close to ¥518 million ($75.28 million) in 2017. Besides Foton, Ankai and Nanjing Golden Dragon, the rest seven are passenger vehicle manufacturers.
Based on the notice, Foton will receive the highest subsidy of ¥147.7 million, followed by Nanjing Golden Dragon and Ankai at ¥100 million each. Moreover, it is also the first time for Nanjing Golden Dragon and Ankai to be listed in the subsidy program since 2016.
In terms of model and vehicle length, a total of 698 units of battery electric buses would receive the subsidy including 686 units with length of over 10 meters, accounting for 98.28 percent.
