ZHANGZHOU, Fujian – Xiamen King Long Motor Group (King Long) started construction of its new energy vehicle industry base in Longhai Automotive Industry Park here on November 16.
With a planned fixed asset investment of over ¥10 billion and a land area of over 333.33 hectares, the NEV industry base will produce medium and large energy-saving and new energy buses, electric systems, power assemblies, chassis and other parts and components with an aim to build a comprehensive automotive industry cluster which is expected to generate a total output value of more than ¥50 billion every year.
As introduced by a company executive, the industry base will be set up in phases. The first phase starts on the construction of energy-saving and new energy bus manufacturing facilities with an investment of over ¥3 billion. When completed in September 2019, it will be able to produce 20,000 medium and large buses per year.
When everything is in place, annual production capacity of the industry base will be 30,000 medium and large energy-saving and new energy buses, 10,000 Kast series buses and 100,000 light buses.
King Long is a major enterprise in Fujian’s automotive industry and one of the large-scale bus manufacturers in China. Its bus products have been exported to over 160 countries and regions with total export volume exceeding 800,000 units. Its three subsidiaries King Long Bus, Golden Dragon Bus and Higer Bus have all been listed in China 500 Most Valuable Brands and combined brand values are close to ¥80 billion.
King Long is not only in the first camp of China’s major new energy bus makers, but also in the first group to sell new energy bus products to overseas markets including France, Israel, Serbia, the Netherlands and Spain.
