BEIJING – Smart EV startup NIO and State Grid Electric Vehicle Co. signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Beijing on November 27 to integrate their respective resources and deepen cooperation in the construction and operation of charging and battery swapping networks.
According to the agreement, the two sides will work more closely together on EV projects including battery energy storage and other energy solutions. They both believe the partnership will lead to developing innovative energy and mobility solutions based on the mobile internet and artificial intelligence.
William Li, founder and chairman of NIO, stated that convenient charging experience was the most important factor for EV owners, which was also essential for making EVs desirable and widespread. “State Grid is a leading provider of public charging facilities, and our cooperation will surely help NIO in reaching our goal of providing users with a charging experience that surpasses refueling at gas stations,” said Li.
State Grid Electric Vehicle Co. was established two years ago and claims to be the world’s leading charging and battery swapping network developer and service operator. It is committed to building a world-class EV service platform that provides EV owners with top services nationwide. Its EV charging network has covered 273 cities in 26 provinces, with 5,526 charging stations and 45,000 charging piles.
“We are happy to work with an emerging, premium electric car company like NIO in achieving their goal of ‘providing a charging experience that surpasses refueling at gas stations,’” said Peng Jianguo, chairman and Party secretary of State Grid Electric Vehicle Co.
