China had 217 million automobiles on the roads by the end of 2017

BEIJING – China had 217 million automobiles on the roads by the end of 2017, part of 304 million motor vehicles roaming the streets across the country, according to data released by the Traffic Administration Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security on January 16.


The 217 million units in automobile parc represent an increase of 23.04 million units, or 11.85 percent, compared with that by the end of 2016. A total of 33.52 million motor vehicles were registered in 2017, including 28.13 million automobiles.
