Electric, fuel cell and autonomous: highlights from 2018 International Exhibition on Transport Technology & Equipment

BEIJING – The 14th International Exhibition on Transport Technology & Equipment, known as China Transpo2018, was held on May 28-30 in Beijing.

The new venue at the Beijing New International Exhibition Center is larger than previous years’ and boasted greater floor space and thus more exhibitors and more displays. In total, 14 bus makers presented 41 buses, 14 of them new releases, 24 all-electric, alongside numerous component manufacturers. Like last year, electric buses were undeniably still the superstars, taking up just under half of all displays, though other trends are also gaining traction: two of the most memorable are fuel cell buses and Xiamen King Long’s autonomous driving Apolong, a product from its cooperation with Chinese internet giant Baidu. Both of these technological advances generated enthusiastic responses from the media.
