Freeman Shen: capital efficiency and precision operation keys behind EX5 pricing

BEIJING – Chinese smart EV startup WM Motor shocked the industry when it announced a much lower than expected pre-sale pricing for its first model, the EX5 electric SUV, on April 20.

Dubbed the industry’s first “living car” ever – the EX5 SUV will be offered in a mobility cooperation model for just ¥99,000 after subsidies, as well as the 300, 400, 500 variants (designating NEDC) driving range for just ¥112,300, ¥124,800 and ¥149,800 after subsidies. Top of the line EX5 Pro 300 and 400 will cost ¥194,550 and ¥216,300 post-subsidies.
