Scania firing on all cylinders to speed up growth in China, seriously looking into local production

BEIJING –The Next Truck Generation from Scania officially debuted on the Chinese market on April 24, just 20 months after its global debut in August 2016, and on the heels of the official announcement from China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) a week earlier that foreign ownership restrictions on commercial vehicle manufacturing in China would be lifted by 2020.

Both events are ushering a new era for the Swedish truck maker, which leads the imported high-end heavy-duty truck market in China, to expand further in the country and speed up efforts to do so as it tries to grow it into eventually its biggest market by 2025.
