SHANGHAI – SAIC Motor sold 454,800 units of passenger and commercial vehicles in July, up 8.49 percent from the same period of the previous year, according to company’s July performance report released recently.
Sales of SAIC-GM reached over 143,000 vehicles in the month, a growth of 9.65 percent year over year. SAIC-Volkswagen sold more than 132,000 vehicles in July, a minor increase of 0.03 percent, compared with the same month of last year.
SAIC-GM-Wuling ranked third among SAIC Motor’s affiliated companies with sales of over 130,000 vehicles in July, up 3.2 percent on a yearly basis. Combined sales of SAIC-GM-Wuling through to July came to 1.14 million units, higher than that of SAIC-GM and SAIC-Volkswagen respectively in the first seven months.
SAIC Passenger Vehicles achieved strong growth in sales with over 37,000 units sold in July, a year-on-year jump of 85.17 percent. Increase rate of sales in the first seven months was even higher to 108.70 percent with more than 129,000 vehicles sold in the period. As planned, the company will launch eight Roewe and MG brand new models including SUVs, cars and EVs.
