BEIJING – Toyota Motor Corp. announced on November 28 that effective January 1, 2018, Kazuhiro Kobayashi, currently a company managing officer, deputy CEO for China Region and president of Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd., has been promoted to a company senior managing officer, CEO of China Region, chairman and president of Toyota Motor (China), as well as general manager of the China Office.
Kobayashi will succeed Hiroji Onishi, who will be resigning from his post as a senior managing officer.
Kobayashi was promoted to president of Toyota Motor (China) in March 2017, and before that he served as president of Toyota Motor (Turkey), director of Toyota Global Business Planning Department, executive director of Toyota and general manager of GAC-Toyota.
With the advance of electrification, automation, connectivity and other technologies, Toyota believes the auto industry has now entered a phase of “competition and coordination” that involves entities from other industries. To further strengthen cooperation among companies of the Toyota Group and boost business innovation, Toyota has decided to change its global executive lineup and revise its organizational structure in January 2018.
