RUGAO, Jiangsu – Hydrogen fuel cell will be the pinnacle of technology competition in the future of the auto industry and technology innovation of hydrogen fuel cell is becoming an important direction of the global energy technology revolution, according to Wan Gang, Minister of Science and Technology (MOST) and president of China Association for Science and Technology (CAST).
Wan made the comments in a congratulatory letter sent to the 2017 Fuel Cell Vehicle Congress (FCVC) held here on November 9-10, which attracted nearly 1,200 delegates of government institutions, enterprises, research institutes and colleges from more than 20 countries and regions who participated in deep discussions about the commercial application of fuel cell vehicles through technology, infrastructure construction and relevant regulatory standards.
Wan pointed out that China has long attached great importance to the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, basically established a technical platform for the power system of fuel cell vehicles with independent intellectual property rights and already had a number of enterprises engaged in the R&D of fuel cells and related key components.
The world is facing profound changes in energy production and consumption, and China will speed up the commercial process of fuel cell vehicles, according to Wan.
“In the future, we will continue to integrate the domestic and foreign advantageous resources and systematically push the innovation and development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. We will improve product quality and promote market synergy of the entire industrial chain of hydrogen fuel cells, and we will strengthen the application of cross-industry synergies and achieve great generic technology breakthroughs of fuel cell vehicles,” said Wan.
