Yasuhide Mizuno: Honda to launch China-only EV in 2018

TIANJIN – Honda plans to launch its first electric vehicle dedicated exclusively for the Chinese market in 2018, according to Yasuhide Mizuno, operating officer of Honda Motor Co., Ltd. and COO for Regional Operations (China), and president of Honda Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd.

Mizuno made the announcement during a speech at the 2017 International Forum (TEDA) on Chinese Automotive Industry Development (IFCAID) here on September 9.

“The EV will be jointly developed by GAC-Honda, Dongfeng-Honda and Honda China and will be sold under the brands of the respective joint ventures,” said Mizuno. “Honda will also cooperate with Neusoft, China’s leading IT solutions and service provider, to jointly develop EV battery management technologies, vehicle data management and on-board connectivity technologies.”

Honda is also considering offering vehicle sharing services and other mobility services in China to help promote its EVs and contribute to a more efficient transport society, according to Mizuno.

“So far we have accelerated our efforts to introduce the latest global-leading technologies to China and strengthened our R&D mechanism in China,” said Mizuno. “In the future, China will be at the center of Honda’s global business development and the keyword for this new challenge is ‘acceleration’.”

Honda has already introduced the Sport Turbo series engines in China including the 1.0L series engines first. The Sport Hybrid SH-AWD tri-motor hybrid system and Sport Hybrid i-MMD dual motor hybrid system have already been equipped on local models. China recently became Honda’s first global market to offer the CR-V Hybrid.

Honda also chose the recently held 2017 Shandong Jimo International Automotive Carnival to debut a new concept vehicle jointly developed by a local design team that helped design the Dongfeng-Honda Gienia and GAC-Honda Crider.

据介绍,Honda将于2018年推出首款中国专属电动车,该电动车由广汽Honda、东风Honda和本田技研科技(中国)有限公司共同开发,将以合资公司的品牌进行销售。Honda还将与中国领先的IT解决方案与服务供应商——东软集团合作,共同开发电动车的电池管理技术、车辆数据云管理和车载互联技术等核心技术。

 

同时,为实现更加高效的交通社会,促进电动车的推广普及,Honda还将探讨在中国开展汽车共享服务,通过汽车共享,为中国消费者提供全新价值的出行服务与体验。

 

以下是Honda中国本部长水野泰秀的演讲概要:

 

迄今为止Honda在中国取得的良好业绩源于我们一直积极为中国顾客提供的新产品和新技术。

 

在新技术方面,我们快速导入了SPORT TURBO系列发动机,其中先进的1.0L发动机是先于全球市场在中国首发的。继SPORT TURBO发动机之后,混合动力技术是另一项导入中国的核心技术。包括在Acura产品中搭载的SPORT HYBRID SH-AWD三电机混合动力系统,以及在雅阁(Accord)、思铂睿(Spirior)和CR-V等车型上搭载的高效双电机SPORT HYBRID i-MMD系统。混合动力款CR-V是率先在中国市场首发的。今后,Honda将在中级车中进一步扩大搭载SPORT HYBRID系统。

 

在安全技术领域,Honda SENSING(安全超感)系统已开始应用于中级车,今后,Honda SENSING(安全超感)将陆续推广到所有车型。

 

迄今为止,Honda将领先全球的新技术快速推广到中国市场,同时也加强了在中国的研发体制。今后我们将以中国为中心引领Honda全球业务的发展,这一新挑战的关键词就是“加速”。

 

2018年,Honda将开始在中国投放纯电动汽车,该电动车正由广汽Honda、东风Honda和本田技研科技这三方研发基地联合开发,并将以广汽Honda、东风Honda两家合资公司的品牌投放市场。

 

Honda还将加强与中国领先的IT解决方案与服务企业——东软集团的合作,共同开发电动车的电池管理技术、车辆数据云管理和车载互联技术等核心技术。

 

此外,为实现更加高效的交通社会,推动电动车的推广普及,Honda将积极探讨在中国开展汽车共享服务,通过汽车共享,为中国消费者提供新价值的出行服务与体验。
